About

Join the Writers’ Studio Book Club and get fresh reads and expert voices every two months! This bimonthly book club features recently published books across rotating genres, each discussed with an expert.

We dive into a carefully selected book from different genres. Each session features a conversation led by an expert in the field, offering unique insight into the craft, context, and themes of the book.

This gathering features New York Times and USA Today bestseller "Witchcraft for Wayward Girls." Our special guest is BARN's own horror and dark fantasy author Emily Smiley.

Whether you're a writer, reader, or both, this is your chance to explore new voices, expand your literary horizons, and connect with a community that loves books as much as you do. Look for a new genre and a new book every round.

Julie Farley

Julie is the author of the beloved Love Songs and Ferry Tales and Cozy Cabins and Ferry Tales books in the Greensea Island Adventure series. She loves writing tales filled with local lore, big families, lots of heart, and plenty of laughs. Julie lives on Bainbridge Island with her husband and four amazing kids. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a graduate degree from DePaul University. When she’s not busy with her family or writing books, you’ll find her trying to master the reformer in the Pilates studio, volunteering at the high school, or watching reality TV … of any sort!
