Introduction to Lapidary: Cutting and Carving Stones

Use various cutting and polishing equipment to cut and carve stones. You're welcome to bring any stones of your own that you have questions about or want to try cutting.
Details
Level: Beginner and beyond. No previous experience required.
After completing this class, you'll be able to attend Focused Open Studio: Lapidary to use the lapidary equipment independently.
This class is the prerequisite for intermediate lapidary classes.
We'll take a 15 - 30-minute lunch break, if you want to bring food or snacks. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level. There are no close-by restaurants.
Materials
A $40 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all base materials, which will be provided.
You should bring a towel for drying your hands and cleaning up, safety glasses and magnifying glasses (or wear ones available in the studio), and earmuffs for ear protection (or wear ones available in the studio).
Class Policies
Ages 14 and up are welcome.
Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, scarves, or ties.
Do not wear dangling jewelry, such as necklaces and bracelets.
Tie back beards. Tie back long hair in a bun.
