It’s lapidary time in the studio — or time for the practice of shaping stone, minerals, or gemstones into decorative items such as cabochons, engraved gems, and faceted designs by cutting, grinding, and polishing. 

A trained safety monitor is always on duty.

• You’ll have access to lapidary equipment only.
• Bring a variety of rocks in different stages so you can share the equipment with others.
• This isn’t a class and no formal instruction is given.
• Bring your own towels to use during your work, and to clean up your workplace.

Prerequisites

You must have taken Introduction to Lapidary: Cutting and Carving Stones.

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
• Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, scarves, or ties.
• Do not wear dangling jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets.
• Tie back beards. Tie back long hair in a bun.
