About
Creating a finely crafted spoon is challenging because of the way wood grain interacts with carving knives. Yet the project is completely
doable — it doesn't drag on and on. Spoons come in infinite varieties, so there's always a new design or type of wood to try.
Starting with a piece of recently harvested, local hardwood, you'll learn to shape the spoon bowl and the handle with a variety of carving tools: knives with straight and hooked blades, gouges, and spokeshaves. You'll also learn how to hone the blades to keep them sharp and
how to finish the wood..
