Combine art and technology to recreate a movie scene of your choice. Use everyday materials like cardboard, paint, and paper to make your creations and bring them to life through coding, motors, lights, and a variety of components. Take a look at an example in action!

You'll begin with an introduction to the micro:bit and Makey:bit robotics kits you'll be using. You'll explore the different components, how to use them, and code them using a block-coding application called MakeCode. You'll then decide on a simple scene from a movie to recreate and talk about how to design a costume or "skin" for the Makey:bit if you want to integrate it as a character in your project. Then you'll learn different cardboard-building techniques and mechanisms you can use.

• This is an introductory class. No coding or building experience is necessary, but creativity is encouraged.
• To keep class costs down, robotics kits will be provided for use during class time and returned to the instructor at the end of the third week.
• We recommend you bring your own devices, whether a laptop (PC or Mac) or Chromebook. If you don't have one, a limited number of devices are available to borrow during class. When registering, select "Use BARN Computer" or "Bring Own Computer."
• Families will be invited to attend a sharing time from 4:50 to 5 pm on the final day of class to view creations and take photos.
