Please join us for our 'Fourth Thursday' monthly event hosted by BARN Writers!

Each month, we will be inviting authors, industry professionals and other writers to a discussion where we'll share tips, give help and inspiration. 

This month: Starting a Writers Group. Most writers can benefit from belonging to a community writing group, but there are things to think about as you go forward. We've invited a panel of writers from different writers groups in the area to discuss various things that have worked (and not) in their groups, some structures and platforms to consider and some ideas on how to make the experience as meaningful as possible for your work-in-progress. We will also discuss the book, Writing Alone, Writing Together: A Guide for Writers and Writing Groups by Judy Reeves.

As a retired high school principal and glass artist, TM Smith has a published romantic comedy-mystery, Affection for Crime, available at Amazon Kindle, iBooks, Nook Books, and Google Play. See Teri’s website at http://smithtm.weebly.com. Her time is now spent working on a paranormal romance series. The first novel in the series is complete and the second, in the editing stage, is discussed every other week in her critique group.

Marlene King is a writer, artist, mental health professional, dreamologist and former corporate executive who makes her home with her husband, cockatoo and Bengal cats on the Puget Sound overlooking the Seattle skyline. She is a recent member of the “Somewhere in Time” writer’s group in Poulsbo, WA. Writing credits include “Dream Times,” a regular column for eighteen years in Dream Network Journal, a six-year column contributor to The Writer Magazine. Her stories appear in Simon and Schuster’s national bestsellers Chocolate for a Woman’s Soul series of books. 

Genevieve Olivarez-Conklin writes poetry and fiction. She's currently working on a novel called "The Deep End." She believes having a writing community and belonging to a writing group are important to support her writing.
