Are you an adventurer, naturalist, or lover of the outdoors?  Nature writing is the art of capturing your experiences in a way that invites the reader along on the adventure.

Leigh Calvez's journey as a naturalist has taken her all over the world. She has decades of nature writing experience to share with us at the Roundtable, including her story of getting started, her favorite nature writers, and valuable tips to guide you in your own efforts.

Presenter: Leigh Calvez is the author of the New York Times bestselling book The Hidden Lives of Owls: The Science and Spirit of Nature's Most Elusive Birds. After studying humpback whales in Massachusetts and Maui and spinner dolphins on the Big Island of Hawaii, Leigh's interest in the natural world led her to nature writing. Her work has been published in American Nature Writing:2003 by Fulcrum Books and in an anthology for Sierra Club Books, titled Between Species: Celebrating the Dolphin-Human Bond. She has also written articles and essays that have been published in the High Country News, Ecologist, Ocean Realm, the Christian Science Monitor, the Seattle Times, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and Bainbridge Island Magazine.
