Woodworking Studio managers Marvin Crosland and Mo Ellis somehow always seem to come up with solutions for the most perplexing problems. And no wonder: They each had long careers working behind the scenes to make sure major Broadway shows like Cats and Phantom of the Opera went off without a hitch – or maybe with just a few hitches. 

At the May woodworkers' monthly meeting, they will explain how a Broadway show comes together and how their definition of carpenter differs from the standard definition. Mo, who specialized as a rigger, will explain what that role entails and how it came in handy when the Woodworking Studio needed to store long boats while keeping the shop usable for other work. They will also share stories, including why life in a crew bus beats travel by plane, and explain how what they did for the shows translates into their volunteer work at BARN.

These monthly meetings always offer an informative presentation on various aspect of woodworking, plus a short business meeting. It's a good opportunity to meet other woodworkers of all skill levels, learn what's new in the shop, and share your thoughts on class offerings and studio operations.
