Makoto Imai, a master of Japanese woodworking, will talk about his life and work at the monthly woodworkers' presentation, which is free and open to all.

During his long career, Makoto built everything from homes to tea houses to furniture. He trained many of the next generation of Japanese woodworkers on the West Coast, including Gary Bella, who teaches Japanese woodworking at BARN. Several groups of BARN woodworkers recently visited  Makoto's home in Seabeck to purchase old-growth wood he has collected over decades.

The Woodworking Studio's monthly meetings offer informative presentations on various aspect of woodworking along with a short business meeting. It's a good opportunity to meet other woodworkers of all skill levels, learn what's new in the shop, and share your thoughts on class offerings and studio operations.

As usual, we'll have coffee and nibbles. Please register so we know how many people to expend. Registration is not required, however.
