The Wyckoff/Eagle Harbor Superfund site was proposed as a Superfund site in 1985 and listed on the National Priority List by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1987. 

Located near Pritchard Park, this highly contaminated property was once the country’s largest wood-treatment facility. For 85 years, the plant used pressure and heat to impregnate wood with oily creosote, which made it highly resistant to insects and rot but also contaminated the soil and water. EPA Cleanup Project Manager Jacob Moersen will discuss the site's history, current status, and future cleanup, including a recent assessment of the climate and seismic risks affecting the site.
