About

The BARN woodworkers' general membership meeting for November will feature David Kotz of David Kotz Woodworks.

As owner of Bainbridge Island's local sawmill, Kotz saves trees that need to be cut down because of disease or development from becoming just firewood or mulch. Operating from his sawmill off of Day Road West, he turns the wood into lumber that can be used for trimwork, furniture and other projects. Many of the community service projects done by the BARN woodworkers over the years were built with wood he supplied.

Kotz will discuss how he harvests, mills and prepares the wood, and he will discuss challenges and solutions in dealing with thick slabs of wood.

The monthly general membership meeting of  BARN's Woodworking & Small Boatbuilding Studio always offers an informative presentation on some aspect of twoodworking, plus a short business meeting. It's a good opportunity to meet other woodworkers of all skill levels, learn what's new in the shop, and share your thoughts on class offerings and shop operations. It's free. No registration is required. There is always coffee and something to nibble on.
