IG Welding #4 – PRACTICE AND PROJECTS is the fourth class (of four) in the sequence leading to use of the welding studio. It is a 2 hour class. Students should have completed Introduction to TIG Welding #1 and #2 and TIG #3 (Fabrication) or equivalent to begin a project or TIG #1 and TIG #2 to come and practice. The TIG welding class is limited to 4 participants. Small class size creates an intimate learning atmosphere for one-on-one learning.
The class provides an opportunity for students to identify and start projects of their own under the guidance of a professional TIG welder. It also provides the opportunity for students to practice and further develop their skills with professional guidance. Students will be encouraged to practice welding thin section of steel Students can request review of topics covered in previous course work of seek guidance on new aspects of TIG welding.
This course is similar to an open studio with professional coaching and assistance.
BARN will provide:
- Welding hood
- Welding gloves
- Protective welding jackets or sleeves if desired
- Hand tools
- Welders and welding station
- Practice steel coupons
Additional Materials fee: $7.00 for steel, filler rod, tungsten, gas and will be added to your total when you register online. If paying by check, please be sure to include the materials fee.
Materials for projects (beyond practice steel coupons or scraps) are available in limited supply based oh what is on hand. Materials available (steel) cost the student an additional $1.25 per pound.
Minimum class size is 2. The class will be cancelled 60 hours prior to class time if only one person has registered.
Instructor: Patrick Clanton is a professional welder with more than 30 years of experience. He participates in the artisan community on Bainbridge as a welder in support of other artists and as a sculptor in his own right.
