About

Join us for a Weave-Along to make a Clasp Weft/Split Color Weave for a scarf or table runner. This is a guided project where you will warp your loom and start weaving in the BARN Fiber Studio and then finish your project on your own.

This weave-along is targeted towards those who already know how to warp their rigid heddle loom, but may be a little rusty and would like some guidance. Perhaps you have taken the introductory class here at BARN, or elsewhere, and now have your own loom. Or maybe you are more experienced and simply want to learn a new technique.

Clasped weave uses two weft yarn colors interlock and doubles back on themselves in each pick, lending a tapestry-like appearance to the weave. We will be weaving clasp weave on rigid heddle looms, but this technique can be used on any loom.

Experience level: Need to already know how to warp a rigid heddle loom.

Participant Preparations:

  • Please pre-warp your looms.
  • Bring 2 skeins of yarn in contrasting colors.

Details:

  • This is not a formal class. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner -- must be comfortable with warping a rigid heddle loom.
  • Please choose the registration type for either "need loom" or bringing my own loom" when you register.
  • This event is open to all and is free for BARN members but please register.
  • BARN-wide safety protocols can be found here. Fiber Studio-specific safety protocols can be found here.

Host for the Weave-along: Dale Walker. Questions? Email Dale at fiber.lead@bainbridgebarn.org
