About

Explore the exciting, delightful medium of watercolor.

Get prepared to travel with your paints. Learn some skills for plein air painting so your next outing, vacation, or visit to the park can include art! It's remarkably satisfying to create your own images of the places you visit.

You'll learn technical aspects of watercolor painting. Instruction includes a discussion of paints, brushes and paper; introduction to color; understanding the color wheel; mixing colors; and experimenting with many watercolor techniques. You'll also learn about value and composition and how everything works together to create strong, successful paintings.

Plan to enjoy yourself! This is a class to learn solid technique and have fun — to experience freedom, exploration, and discovery!

We'll take a break for a short lunch. Bring your lunch and any snacks for the day.

Instructor
Sheri Worth

Sheri enjoys being a traveling watercolor artist and landscape painter. When the studio calls, she works in mixed media with a focus on the beauty of the landscape. A lifelong love of art and excitement at trying new media have led her to work and study with myriad instructors in many disciplines. She's currently working in mixed media, pen and ink, and watercolor, finding joy in everyday scenes. Watercolor has been a lifelong companion. She graduated in 1977 with a bachelor of fine arts in sculpture from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She has taught workshops in Steamboat Springs, Telluride, and Grand Junction. Sheri moved to Bainbridge Island in 2019 after splitting her time between Telluride and Moab, Utah. "I believe there is a magic mix of skill and heart that combine to create paintings that arrest the viewer. When we can communicate our inner being through our art — that is the essence of being an artist." - S. Worth
