About

*This class has prerequisites, please see below.

If you're a woodturner, you can gear up for the holidays by making projects for your own table or for personally designed gifts. The system you will learn in the class is applicable to many turning projects.

In this 2 session class, you will choose two of these items to make:

  • High-quality pizza cutter
  • Sleek, stainless steel bottle opener
  • Microplane zester (fine grater)
  • Elegant pie knife
  • Cheese slicer
  • Bottle stopper (wine, liquor or oil/vinegar)
  • Pig-tail food flipper
  • Ice cream scoop
  • Coffee scoop

During the first session, you will learn how to use a Ruth Niles mandrel to mount stock on the lathe, enhance your design skills, and turn and sand the first project. During the second session, you will turn your second project and decide on a finish for both projects. Time permitting, the final finish will be applied to both projects.

Details:

  • Open to those who have taken BARN's introduction to Woodturning class and Woodshop Tool Safety 1.
  • A materials fee of $30 to cover wood, hardware and shop supplies will be added when your register. Member: $90+30=$120. Non-Member: $117+30=$147
