About

Have you ever thought you’d like to enlist the help of an editor, but didn’t exactly know what that entailed? Join freelance copyeditor Natalie Montanez for a deep dive into the world of working with editors. We’ll look at how an editor can help you and your work; the kinds of editing you may benefit from; and how to find, hire, pay, and collaborate with your editor. Your manuscript and readers will thank you for coming to this one!

Natalie  is a freelance copyeditor, proofreader, and owner of The Brave Beagle Editing & Copywriting LLC. Before launching her business in 2023, she toiled in corporate communications and advertising for years in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. She used to be strongly opposed to the Oxford comma, but has relaxed considerably over the years. Learn more about her work at thebravebeagle.com.

Instructor
Martha Salinas

Martha Kay Salinas writes multi-generational novels about the complexities of relationships and breaking free from the past. In an earlier life, she worked as a teacher and a marriage and family therapist, brought up two sons with her husband, Douglas, and earned an MFA in Creative Writing. Martha lives on Bainbridge Island where she's currently serving on the Writers’ Steering Committee for BARN. She's also in the final stages of preparing a novel for submission while having started another one. When she’s not writing or reading, you can find her working to help other writers achieve their dreams.

Instructor
Natalie Montanez

Natalie Montanez is a freelance copyeditor working with traditional book publishers and small businesses. Prior to launching her own company, she worked for nearly two decades in advertising and corporate communications with The Walt Disney Company, Nordstrom, The Seattle Times, and WMATA, among others. She used to be an AP style zealot, but she's since warmed considerably to Chicago style and the serial comma. You can learn more about her at thebravebeagle.com.
