About

This monthly gathering of writers explores different facets of the craft through expert talks, engaging conversation, and opportunities to read their writing.

This month we' re continuing a tradition that's been enjoyed for hundreds of years around the world in which writers meet as a community to read their work aloud. You don’t have to read to attend; you can simply come and enjoy listening to the work of others. All will be invited to share sparkling conversation and insights. We’ll be offering compliments, not critiques, unless the writer asks for brief input.

Registration is required. Please let us know if you wish to be a reader (12 slots available) or an audience member. All readers, whether beginning writers or multi-published authors, will read for five minutes. We promise an appreciative audience. No need for nerves! You’ll be surprised what you learn about your own writing.

Come prepared to read aloud (if you choose), reflect, and discover new dimensions of your own story.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Instructor
Martha Salinas

Martha Kay Salinas writes multi-generational novels about the complexities of relationships and breaking free from the past. In an earlier life, she worked as a teacher and a marriage and family therapist, brought up two sons with her husband, Douglas, and earned an MFA in Creative Writing. Martha lives on Bainbridge Island where she's currently serving on the Writers’ Steering Committee for BARN. She's also in the final stages of preparing a novel for submission while having started another one. When she’s not writing or reading, you can find her working to help other writers achieve their dreams.
