About

High schoolers, come on down to BARN for an evening of games, friends, music, and creativity!  You'll get to choose from activities like cooking, woodworking, sewing, jewelry-making, metal-working, and more - every month is a different lineup. You can also just hang out and chill or work on your own projects.

In November, Teen Night will be based outdoors, with some activities taking place under our large outside canopies and some activities happening inside our facility.  All participants will be required to wear masks and only students who are fully vaccinated will be permitted in the building.

Bring a friend or come on your own and meet new friends!  No registration is required, but teens will be asked to sign in and out and provide a parent phone number and email address upon arrival.

Our activities for November include:

Delight Bites:  Learn to make a healthy and delicious snack - energy balls with a base of nuts, dates, and chocolate, rolled in your choice of toppings for your own unique flair!

Beaded Jewelry: Choose from hundreds of beads to create your personalized elastic choker necklace.

LGBTQ+ Poetry & Art: In this safe space, play with words and visuals to express your identity. Take home your own sticker poems and blackout pieces.

Laser Cut Luggage Tags: Cut a super-strong craft paper on the laser cutter, then sew the pieces together and add a snap to make a tag for your suitcase or other.  There are lots of colors to mix and match to make your unique tag!

Glass Bead Making: Play with fire. Melt glass.  Make beads and other shapes out of basically lava.  When else in your life do you get to use a torch like this?

Wood Carving:  Learn how to use a special carving knife and make your own swan out of wood to take home.

Metal working: Try your hand at plasma cutting (melting steel with a jet of ionized gas) and MIG welding (fusing metal together with an electrical current).  We'll make metal art for your rear-view mirror or jewelry. Car/rearview mirror and/or chain not included. :-)

Details:

  • No pre-registration is required for the in-person event, although all students will need to sign in upon arrival.
  • Masks will be required, and hand sanitizing.  In case of rain, some activities may be moved indoors.  Restrooms will also be available indoors.
