This Month's Activities
Drawing Comic Strip Characters - Drawing & Painting (8 students maximum): Using well-known comic strips as reference, you'll learn and practice drawing skills like sketching, proportions, and color, while learning a little about the artists behind the characters.
Sewing a Zippered Pouch - Fiber Arts (4 students maximum): Create a zippered pouch for pencils, art supplies, or everyday essentials! You'll practice sewing-machine skills, learn how to install a zipper, and add a fabric lining for a neatly finished interior. Take home a pouch you made yourself!
Glass Torchwork - Glass Arts (6 students maximum): Learn how to use one of our Glass Arts Studio torches to melt, twist, shape, and mold glass.
Wire and Hardware Jewelry - Jewelry & Fine Metals (6 students maximum): Stunning works of art can be made from the simplest of materials. Discover how to create beautiful and wearable art from wire, hardware, and other random things. Let your imagination flow!
Teen Improv - Media Arts (14 student maximum): Have fun playing improv games where we work together to make up scenes on the spot from random suggestions. You'll spend the evening laughing and discovering that it can be fun getting up in front of an audience of your peers.
Cosclay Sculpture (6 students maximum): In BARN's first sculpture activity for teens, you'll get to see finished sculptures, come up with your own ideas, use sculpting tools, and create something all your own.
Hand Printed Patches - Print & Book (10 students maximum): Explore the art of block printing by carving your own designs and creating a collection of handmade cotton patches to take home. You get to keep your block to print with at home, too.
Make a Jigsaw Puzzle - Tech Lab (5 students maximum): Take a picture or digital image and convert it into a 6-inch-square, 150-piece, wooden jigsaw puzzle. Your picture can be a color magazine image or a grayscale digital image. You'll use the laser cutter to cut out the pieces
14-Sided Wooden Dice - Woodworking (10 students maximum): Create your very own giant 14-sided die while practicing essential woodworking skills and having fun at the same time.
