Learn about color theory and how it applies to nature. Color is really helpful to know, whether you're drawing, painting, gluing together a book, or collaging. Learn why certain plants or animals have the colors and patterns they do — it can help inform your art. Learn about filling a page with color, then drawing line work, or collaging, on top of the color, as well as how to draw plants from life and design plants from your imagination. 
Learn how to make a nature journal out of a single sheet of paper, which ends up being 16 sheets after being folded, and get the chance to fill the entire book with a combination of hand-drawn and glued specimens.

On the second day, learn about handcrafted greeting cards — how to make one-of-a-kind cards using collage or combine images and words with lettering techniques. Learn how to make a panorama cartoon story greeting card, which is a card that opens from the middle. 

On day three, learn about surface designs and patterns. You can cut and glue the same shape over and over, or draw the same shape or images over and over. Either way, you have a pattern! Nature is full of patterns. You'll be encouraged to create patterns based on plants, imaginary or real, and have a chance to create patterns out of real specimens you can then glue into your book.

Create your own accordion book on day four. These long fold-out books can be one-of-a-kind or variation editions, which means you make the same book more than once, but each one is slightly different by nature of them being handmade. This is also a panorama format.

On day five, it's pop-ups! Your final project will be how to make a pop-up card and/or put pop-ups into the books you’ve already made. Pop-ups are great as gifts or just for fun. If you want to stick with the nature theme, you can create fun little images like a tree, bug, or flower that can pop out of the center of your work.

A materials cost of $15 is included in the price of the class.
