About

This class will help knitters who know the basics (how to knit and purl) get to the next level! Learn how to decrease stitches, knit both flat and in the round, and seam pieces of a pattern together. After we finish putting together the pieces of our cats, we'll add faces and give them their own personalities.

Details

  • For students ages 12-16.
  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • Registration closes Monday, July 31.
  • A materials fee of $40 is included in the price of the class.

Project

We will knit stuffed cat toys, using a free pattern from Yarn Inspirations.

Class Policies

  • If you have any questions, please email BARN Youth Program Coordinator, Sarah Jones at SarahJ@BainbridgeBARN.org.
Instructor
Betsy Hagestedt

Betsy has been working with fiber since she was in elementary school, having learned to sew and knit from her mom. As an anthropologist, she uses her fiber practice as a means of connecting with people from other cultures, embracing the universal nature of fiber arts. Knitting gradually became her specialization due to its portability as she began to travel around the world. You can see some of her fiber experiments on her Instagram feed at behestknits. Since starting at BARN she has been learning as many new skills as possible. She is highly involved in torchworking in the Glass Studio, and has started dabbling with welding and woodturning.
