Learn about the art of sun printing, aka cyanotype, a photography process from the 19th century.

In this class, students will learn about this alternative process, experiment with different ways of making negatives, create compositions with plants and objects, and expose their art outside. A fun intersection of art, chemistry, and ecology.

Materials fee of $30 is included in the price of class.  The instructor will provide all necessary supplies.

Age Level: Youth Class, Ages 8-12.

Instructor, Katey Rissi says: "I am an artist, craftsperson, and educator, with a background in graphic design. I have worked in the design field as a print designer, photographer, and as a creative director. Additionally, I ran a small business selling my printmaking work and paper sculpture to art museums and small shops around the country.

Feeling the need to incorporate social justice and activism into my art making practice, I shifted my attention to teaching art and community work in 2016. I currently work as an art educator at the Boys and Girls Club, where I develop curriculum and implement programming for youth aged 5-14. I teach workshops to both youth and adults in printmaking, photography, creative practice, plant medicine, and folk ecology. I live and make art on Bainbridge Island."
