Get an introduction to the world of self-publishing and how you can make your own unique, handmade cards or books and share your art with others as long as you have access to a copier.
Your first project will be learning how to draw black-and-white illustrations and images in pencil and ink to make your own coloring book zine. You'll also create a page to contribute to a class zine.

Learn about zines from single sheets of paper that can end up being eight or 16 pages, how to fold and cut these little booklets into zines, mini zines, or micro mini zines. Making multiple copies of zines is acting as your own self-publisher!

On the third day, learn about handmade books like accordion books, which can be created from folding and gluing paper, and can be short or long. You'll learn the difference between making unique single books or making editions of books where you hand make the same book a few times. You'll learn how to create handmade covers and visual journals.

On day four, it's all about unique handmade cards, and cards that can be copied, such as postcards. You'll get to work in graphite and/or ink for black and white art, and, for your individualized handmade cards, color drawing materials as well as collaging.

The last day is Final Class Fanart Friday, and Artist Trading Card/Trading Work Day! You'll fold and cut your zine copies and finish up anything that needs completion, trade zine copies with one another, and learn how to draw characters we already know and love. You'll learn about artist trading cards.
