Tube setting is similar to bezel setting, which makes this a natural starting method when introducing faceted stones.This type of setting securely holds the stone by compressing the tube walls down over the outer edge of the stone while supporting from beneath. You will be setting small to medium stones, using the flex-shaft, burs, files, burnishers, and pushers.

There will be cubic zirconias and a selection of jewelry items to choose from for your setting practice.

Tube settings can be a quick, reliable, and versatile addition to your growing list of jewelry techniques. Although we will talk about materials and building options, this class focuses on the mechanics of securing a faceted stone and the process for setting that stone. This isn’t a fabricating class, but you should go home with a finished product for you to keep or gift.

It is recommended that you take Stone Setting - Basic Bezels before this class, but it is not required.

Details

• A $32 materials fee included in the cost of the class covers all materials needed. Students can bring a couple things (listed below), too.
• Registration closes June 10. 
• Feel free to bring a snack. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.
• N95 or KN95 masks are required for this class when working close together.

Details

In addition to an apron and mask, students can bring loupes or magnifiers, digital calipers, Encore vices, setting burrs, flex shaft quick change and/or flex shaft hammer handpieces and any other setting tools if they have them and want to use them in class (none are required).
