Learn and practice how to cut a seat and secure a stone. You'll be using many basic jeweler tools (saw, files, pliers, dividers, calipers, punches, setting burrs, polishing wheels, vices, chasing hammer, and the flex shaft). You should have a working knowledge of the jewelers' saw, files, and flex shaft to sign up for this class.

Even if you don't use many traditional prong settings in your current designs, it's an excellent stepping stone. Learning how to use them can lead you to new understanding and possibilities.

A $45 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all materials needed.

Prerequisites

• Introduction to Jewelry: Skills Class or equivalent (basic tool use: sawing, filing, flex-shaft)

• Stone and tube setting classes, or some faceted setting experience, is recommended.
