About

Bead setting with gravers set the stones into the surface of your metal by raising beads of metal with gravers. In this skills class, you will learn and practice how to hold and use a graver, how to raise beads, and how to secure a stone and finish the metal around the stone setting.

• How to properly use gravers, sharpening and polishing

• Using GRS stone setting equipment vs other methods

• A $35 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all materials needed. Your materials kit includes extra copper and CZs for continued practice after this class. See below for what students can bring.

Details

• Bring your bur kit from Flush Setting Skills class or burs you like to use when flush setting. The studio has burs available to use but may not be the size you prefer.

• In addition to your optiVISORs and/or readers, students can bring digital calipers, Encore vices, graver balls, flex shaft quick change if they have them and want to use them in class (none are required).
  

• N95 or KN95 masks are recommended (not required), for this class when working together closely.

Prerequisites

• Stone setting - Flush Setting Skills Class or equivalent (previous flush setting of faceted gemstones experience) (Please list class in May here with a note to sign up)
• Introduction to Jewelry: Skills Class or equivalent (basic tool use - sawing, filing, flex-shaft)
