This fun and comprehensive class is designed for all skill levels. Bring a close-up color portrait of your choice. In the first part of the class, you'll practice sketching the basic portrait. Then, you'll learn how to bring depth and character to your portrait by mixing and layering color and shadow.

  • This class is designed for all skill levels.
  • This class meets downstairs in the Small Classroom.

Materials

  • A $10 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers pastels, paper, and fixative spray used during the class.
  • You should bring at least one portrait of a person or an animal.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Instructor
Sher Swaim

Sher Swaim received her BFA in painting from the University of Illinois and did post-baccalaureate work at the University of Florida. Before locating to Port Ludlow, Sher owned and operated Sher’s Art Gallery and for 33 years taught classes in drawing, pastels, painting and ceramics for all ages.
