About

In this class you will learn to make two different types of drawstring bags. One bag uses the clever French seam finish and the other includes a lining. Along the way, you will learn about different tools that make sewing projects easier, like using a rotary cutter, how to use a seam ripper, and simple sewing machine hacks.

Materials

A $10 materials fee, included in the price of the class covers fabric, thread, cording, and safety pins.

Prerequisites

This class is intended for adults who have completed BARN’s Sewing Machine Certification, and who are comfortable threading a sewing machine on their own.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Instructor
Jana Kelly

Jana has been in to creating and fixing since her mother first showed her how to thread a sewing machine. She has participated in the John Campbell Folk School work study program and has taken classes in cake decorating, quilting, wood turning, weaving, calligraphy, and more. As a librarian, she created engaging programs teaching adults new skills such as making sushi, making cheese, and fabric dying. While she leans towards practical crafts, she'll try anything once.
