Serger Sewing Machine Certification
Learn how to set up and operate the Bernina 860 serger sewing machine.
This orientation will allow you access to the Fiber Studio's Bernina L 860 overlocker serger sewing machine. This machine is perfectly suited to working with all types of threads and fabrics, particularly highly elastic and knitted materials. It offers a variety of stitches, all selectable via the color touch screen.
The orientation includes how to set up and put away the machine, thread it properly, and utilize the very clear and helpful instructions that are programmed in the machines. It's basically a sewing machine with many serger stitching/capabilities.
Prerequisites
- You must have completed the Fiber Arts Studio Orientation.
- You must have working experience with a sewing machine. If needed, please consider BARN's Sewing Orientation and Practice Project.
Class Policies
- Ages 14 and up are welcome.
Instructor
Trish has been sewing for as long as she can remember. Her mother, Philomena, was her first teacher. Trish left the corporate world behind in 2017 when she moved to Kingston and in 2020, she founded Seamstresses Unite!, a group that produced and donated 36,000 face masks in the early days of COVID. In 2023 she began a small sewing business named after her mother, Philomena Fabric Art. She has been focused on building and improving her sewing and crafting skills, which lead her to BARN!
