About

**This workshop will be live streamed via Zoom.**

If you’ve ever wanted to make any of the beautiful geometric patterns found on Japanese fabric, this is the class for you. We provide the tools to teach you the basic motifs and techniques, which you can later apply to your own alterations, textile beautification, quilting, and, of course, visible mending.

Session 1 - HITOMEZASHI SASHIKO ESSENTIALS - 2 hours

Welcome to the world of "One-Stitch" Sashiko! Sashiko, the Japanese hand-stitching technique for patching and reinforcing fabric, is the hot “new” trend in crafts and fashion. Hitomezashi Sashiko creates beautiful geometric patterns, and we'll teach you the most essential motifs, which you can later apply to almost any and every project!

Session 2 - MOYOUZASHI SASHIKO ESSENTIALS - 2 hours

Welcome to the fluid lines and complex designs of Moyouzashi Sashiko! Join the slow stitching and visible mending movements with this Moyouzashi Sashiko class. Moyouzashi – a version of the sashiko running stitch that is worked in curves or straight lines to create beautiful motifs representing traditional images from Japanese art such as waves, coins, and repeating geometric patterns — is a perfect addition to fabric alterations, clothing enhancements, and especially, quilting.
