In the past, rivets were traditionally used as sealing mechanisms for the construction of copper pots and kettles. In this class, you'll see how rivets can have a dual purpose both as decorative elements and holding mechanisms even on a small jewelry scale.

The instructor will go over making rivets and applying them during the box fabrication process. You'll leave this class with a small, unique, round copper box with a snug, pressure-fit lid.

• The $22 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers the copper and a drill bit for every student. 
• You should bring a towel and apron as desired and textile or texture swatches that can be used to create textures on copper in the rolling mill.

Prerequisites

• Introduction to Jewelry: Skills Class or equivalent experience 
• Introduction to the Jeweler's torch or equivalent experience
• Jewelry Soldering: Skills Class or equivalent experience
• You should be comfortable using a torch
• You must be proficient at making bezels and sweat soldering
