About

Explore a new rigid heddle weaving technique.

Create lightweight, drapey fabric by leaving  spaces in your weaving.

We discuss considerations for this technique, then we warp and then we start weaving. This technique can be used on floor looms, as well. If you’re a floor loom weaver, you’re welcome to come and watch to get a feel for the technique.

This is a great for lighter yarns. If you have sock yarn that you bought because you loved it, but haven’t used it, bring it. If you’re bringing your own loom, bring an appropriate heddle for the yarn you’re using. If you have questions about materials, please email fiber.lead@bainbridgebarn.org

Students to bring:

  • Warp your rigid heddle loom with a light-weight yarn.
  • If you want to weave a scarf, warp 8"-10" inches wide, choose your desired length (72" plus fringe plus waste is a nice length).
  • If you are using a Fiber Studio rigid heddle loom, reserve it in the studio.
