About

Come join the Fiber Studio at BARN for our second rigid heddle loom Weave-Along to make a Log Cabin scarf or table runner.

Log Cabin is a versatile weaving pattern that leaves a lot of room for variation and creativity.  This is a guided project where you will warp your loom and start weaving here and then finish your project on your own.

This weave-along is targeted towards those who already know how to warp their rigid heddle loom, but may be a little rusty and would like some guidance. Perhaps you have taken the introductory class here at BARN, or elsewhere, and now have your own loom. Or maybe you are more experienced and simply want to learn a new technique.

Materials: Participants should bring:

  • 2 skeins (220 yds) of worsted weight yarn in contrasting colors to make a warp about 10" wide and 6' long. For a wider or longer warp, or if you will be using a more closely space reed and finer yarn, then you should bring proportionately more yarn in each of the two colors.  Yarn should be wound into a ball or cake.
  • Rigid heddle loom, any width, with a 7.5-8 dent reed.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner -- must be comfortable with warping a rigid heddle loom

Ages: Ages 14+ Welcome.

This class is open to all and is free for members but please register so we know if you are bringing a loom or using one of the studios' looms.

We have a refrigerator for people to store their drinks!

Hosts for the Weave-along: Terry Winer and Dale Walker.
