About

Come to one or all the December Relief Print Mondays, but each is a single-day class, so please register for each one separately.

Relief printing can be as simple as cutting a design into block printing material.  But there are all sorts of other fun techniques to try once you have your block.  Come play with Jan and discover the color and pop in relief printing.

Details:

  • Prerequisite: none.
  • The materials fee of $15, included in the price of the class, covers one lino block, ink, and student grade printing paper.
  • Professional grade paper is available for purchase at $5/sheet.
  • Feel free to bring a meal or snacks. Food is allowed in the common area adjacent to the studio classroom, and there is a kitchen in which to store and reheat.
  • Come to one or all the Relief Print Mondays, but please register for each one.
Instructor:

During the last ten years, Jan Branham retired to Bainbridge Island after a 35-year career as a public high school art teacher in California. She has since become a full-time printmaker, which she finds very satisfying and artistically nourishing. Jan primarily works using collage and other printmaking techniques such as etching, linocut, woodblock, and collagraph, as well as the mixing of media to satisfy her image curiosity.

Jan currently works with several groups of printmakers as well as being an active member of BARN’s Print Studio and the Seattle Print Arts. She has been included in a number of local and national shows, from Port Townsend to Brooklyn. See more of Jan’s work at the Island Gallery here on Bainbridge Island.
