**This workshop will be live streamed via Zoom.** 

Nettles are a nutrient-dense native spring green that grows abundantly here in the Pacific Northwest. We will be exploring how to gather, process and cook with this versatile plant. This is a demonstration class where Azure will offer you guidance for harvesting nettles, how to use them, plus, offer up a demo of three delicious recipes (chicken nettle soup, nettle pesto and nettle smoothie) for you to make at home once you’ve harvested nettles from your region. You will receive an email one day before the start of the class with the recipes Azure will be demonstrating.

Details:

  • Registration will close on Thursday, April 29th at 3:00pm. 
  • This class will be taught online via Zoom. For a great video on how to use Zoom, watch this tutorial. Please make sure you have the most current version of the Zoom software.
  • A Zoom link and recipes will be sent to the email you registered with one day prior to class start. Please watch for this email. You may need to check your spam folder for emails from BARN.

Instructor Bio:

Azure Boure’ is a member of the Suquamish Tribe where she works as an educator in the Traditional Food & Medicine Program for her community, Islandwood, and, other organizations. She has a Bachelors of Science in Native Environmental Science from Northwest Indian College. Gathering traditional foods and plants from our region is a passion of hers and teaching others those skills is what fulfills her!
