About

This class will help resolve some common issues related to fitting knits so that their style flatters you individual body. We will discuss issues of gauge and deciding how much ease to include (especially if the pattern does not specify), as well as touching on the different construction methods and the benefits and drawbacks of each in relation to fitting. There are also some common issues, such as sleeves that are too tight or loose, unflattering body length or bodies that are unflatteringly blocky, which we will address. If you have a sweater that you don't wear because it just isn't right, bring it to class with you and we will discuss how it could have been altered during the knitting process to improve the fit, as well as whether there are any potential solutions to the problem after-the-fact!

• Skill Level: Confident beginner, not necessary to have knit a sweater
• A $5 materials fee will help provide handouts and samples
• Ages 14 and up are welcome

Details

Students should bring a pattern or project that they would like to fit (we can even address issues in a completed sweater). Teacher will provide handouts.  

Project

Students will come away from this class with an understanding of how to fit a knitting pattern.

Prerequisites

Students should be comfortable knitting, preferably having completed at least one knitting project that requires fitting.
