Join Ken Rothmuller and Sarah King in late August on a Bainbridge Island Photo Walk and Review. There will be a
“Kickoff” (Zoom) session on Thursday, August 26th, a Saturday Morning Photo Walk / Shoot Session and the following week a Review Session at BARN.
You will have the opportunity to shoot at Hawley Cove / Beach (with Sarah) and/or Downtown / Waterfront (with Ken). Sarah and Ken are available to answer questions, offer compositional guidance and generate ideas. Participants should already be familiar with their camera gear. Anything from a Phone Camera to DSLRs can be used.
After the shoot, you should edit you work down to your favorite / best 3 to 4 shots. Do the necessary post-processing editing to make the shots the best they can be and then submit them via Dropbox by 6pm Wednesday prior to class on Thursday. You can submit JPEGs that are original sized or at least 1920px on the longest side.
At the Review Session on Thursday, September 9th, held at BARN (in the Great Room) we will have a look at everyone’s shots, offer our suggestions for improvements and answer questions.

- The last session of this class will be at BARN.
- BARN is practicing safety measures for the health and well-being of all participants, in accordance with state and CDC guidelines. Everyone is required to wear masks, wash or sanitize hands frequently, maintain a distance of 6 feet between individuals, and stay home if they are sick. Overall BARN safety policies are here.
Instructor Bios:
Ken Rothmuller has been shooting images since getting his first camera as a teenager. Later in life he had both a B/W and color darkroom before switching over to a digital workflow. More recently he has had the opportunity to study under some great mentors, including: Jay Maisel, Joel Meyerowitz, Eddie Soloway, and Margo Davis.
Ken especially enjoys traveling with his camera allowing him to see new places more deeply, cementing memories and giving him the opportunity to interact with locals.

Sarah King has been photographing for over a decade. Her current work centers around abstraction and interdisciplinary approaches to her ideas, but her very first subject was the natural environment of the Pacific Northwest. She enjoyed touring the Olympic Peninsula with her large format camera and printing in the traditional darkroom. She is excited to share her enthusiasm for this subject with workshop participants.
