Pearl knotting is not just for pearls, although pearls are a jewelry box staple that never go out of style. Always in fashion, pearls can be mixed with other gemstones or beads to create a unique, personalized necklace that can be dressed up or worn with a simple tee.

In this short, three-hour class, learn how to knot a string of pearls and attach a clasp. Many tips and tricks will be discussed.

Experience level: Beginner. No jewelry experience is needed.

A $28 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all base materials needed.

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
  • Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, dangling jewelry, scarves, or ties.
  • Tie back long hair in ponytail or bun. Tie back beard.
Instructor
Karin Luvaas

Karin Luvaas is a Bainbridge Island artist and jeweler with a degree in encaustics, painting, and metal sculpture. She has studied under numerous jewelry masters including Blaine Lewis, founder of New Approach School for Jewelers in Tennessee, and achieved graduate jeweler status under Alan Revere of the world-renowned Revere Academy of San Francisco. Karin also is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and holds a Jewelers of America Bench Jeweler Technician certificate. Her current work can be seen at karinluvaas.com
