This is a fabulous opportunity to work with Ginny Smith, the owner of one of the best fine fabrics stores in the United States: Ginny's Fine Fabrics.  Her Facebook page reflects the wide world of fabrics that can be found in her Rochester, Minnesota store. 


Ginny loves to sew and to share her knowledge about garment creations.  She even spends her vacation time sewing.

In this 3-day workshop, Ginny will teach you how to take 3 different garment patterns and tailor them to fit your measurements.

In this class you will learn: 

  • How to take your own measurements;
  • How to adjust a pattern to fit your body;
  • How to make sure your measurements and pattern are the same.

Student Supplies: Students should bring 3 patterns to class that they would like to make for themselves.  Women: skirt, top, dress, and/or jacket.  Men will want to consult with Ginny about the kinds of patterns to choose. 

An additional Materials Fee of $5
Please bring cash or a check made out to BARN to the first day of class.


Instructor Bio: Ginny has spent her life teaching people to sew well.  She supplies fabulous fabric so that don’t have to work very hard to make a garment that beautifully fits.  She also loves to make garments for her customers, friends and family.  Ginny says she is "Mom taught" --  and mostly learned sewing methods through trial and error and with the help of wonderful teachers. She has owned Ginny's Fine Fabrics for 41 years (and reports that the store has been in existence in five locations within two blocks for those 41 years).
