Please join us in welcoming Len Eisenhood, a master paper marbler, in an exciting and productive workshop.  

In this hands-on workshop, you will become familiar with paper marbling's scaffolding process: paper preparation; mixing and applying paints; combing and over-marbling. You will have a chance to explore the art of paper marbling, and try several different techniques.

Each student will receive:

• A packet of pre-alum’d paper (15 sheets of varying size). 
• Demonstration by instructor and execution by students of three traditional marbling patterns (Italian stone, Dutch Gel-get, and Parisian Non-pareil).
•  Introduction of combing techniques.

The history of marbled arts dates back to the 1500's, when Middle-Eastern artisans established classical designs as background for calligraphy or as borders of pages. In the 17th and 18th centuries the art migrated to Europe, where new marbling designs, unique to each country, were developed.

• This is an all-levels class. Open to ages 14 and up.

Instructor Bio:
Len Eisenhood is an educator and artist and is currently showing his marbled papers and collaged paintings at The Island Gallery.
