Qualify to use the metal-cutting bandsaw and the drill on the Smithy machine in BARN's Metal Machining Studio.

This class is appropriate for beginners. Once qualified,  BARN members may do these operations without supervision by a studio member. (To use the Smithy machine for lathe and milling operations, you will need to take a second class, which will be scheduled soon.)

This class is designed to respond to needs of BARN members who participate in programs of other studios, especially Jewelry, Electronic & Technical Arts and Woodworking. These members may not have a full-blown metal machining project but need access to metal machining equipment for a function where the other studio does not have the right equipment. For example, the Jewelry Studio has already used the Smithy lathe to smooth and polish their collection of dapping hammers.
