About
Moulage is the foundation of the French couture method of pattern drafting, which the instructor of this class learned from a Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture-certified pattern drafting teacher. The moulage is a form-fitting pattern that duplicates the figure with no ease added, which can be adapted to any pattern. After learning how to properly measure and convert these to a finished pattern, you'll learn how to convert this moulage to finished slopers.
Details
- Skill Level: Advanced beginners-plus. Some experience sewing and working with patterns is needed. If you're unsure, or have questions, email sewing.coordinator@bainbridgebarn.org.
- Wear a body stocking or other close-fitting garment (you can wear it under other clothes) on the first day. We’ll start by taking the measurements of the figure, and then draft from there.
- There are only 10 spots available, so the class is expected to fill extremely quickly. If so, click on the "Wait List" button (there is no charge to do so). If there is a cancellation, you'll be notified via email. The available spot will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Bring a bag lunch each day. A refrigerator and microwave are available on the lower level.
Details
You need to bring:
- Sewing machine (second day only)
- Sewing tools
- Fabric scissors
- Pins
- Clover dual tracing wheel
- 3 yards muslin
- A lightweight chain or string to demark the jewel neckline
- 2 yards elastic 1/4" or 3/8" wide
- 30" separating zipper
- 3 yards white kraft paper 24"-30" wide (available in art supply or office stores)
- Tracing carbon paper
- Drafting tools: tape measure, 18" ruler, L square or a 6" x 24" rule, drafting curve
- Scotch tape, paper scissors, pencils (colored and regular), eraser
