What tools do you rely on to master the craft of writing?

Join fellow BARN writers and friends on Wednesday, December 2nd at 5:30 pm. Our topic for this month's gathering is learning the craft of writing. 

People are not born "good writers" or suddenly struck with good writing skills at a certain age or after graduating with an a certain degree. Like any other craft, it has to be learned and requires lots of practice. What have you done (or what are you doing) to learn and improve upon your writing skills? Do you take classes, attend workshops, read books about writing, read great books, hire an editor, or just keep on writing and hope you'll get better?
