"First Metal Machining Studio Meeting"

This will be the first meeting of the interest group and we are interested in doing the following:

• Acquainting everyone with the machinery and tools we have acquired to date and the anticipated additions when the Big BARN is constructed.
  
• Finding out from those of expressing an interest, what machinery and tools you would like to see included in the studio with an eye toward revising the tentative equipment list.
  
• Presenting to the group the anticipated initial courses and qualifications to be given in Metal Machining which are:
  
• • Basic operation of the Smithy Granite lathe/milling machine/drill press and the metal cutting band saw
  • An introductory class in metal machining which will include a project for each student that the student can take home.
• Asking for suggestions from the group for additional courses and open shop sessions.
  
• Seeking assistance from the group for course instructors, open shop monitors and other coordination functions.
