About
Make your own sketchbook and learn how to bind like "real" bookbinders. You'll learn about the case binding technique, which involves sewing multiple signatures (groups of pages) together to create a traditional book.
You'll have two choices for the sketchbook's cover. You can either create your own hard cover by hand gluing paper to board, or you can repurpose the cover of an old book. This is a versatile technique that is the foundation for traditional book binding and can be used for large or small books.
Throughout the day, we'll discuss the history of book binding, watch demonstrations of techniques, create our covers, and sew the book pages together. At the end, everyone will have their own, one-of-a-kind sketchbook.
