*This class has a prerequisite. Please see below.

By machining a cube from rough aluminum stock, you will learn key elements of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) machining principles: flatness, parallelism, and angularity. You’ll learn various methods of securing stock while machining, and how to effectively use the Digital Read-Out (DRO) indicators on the mill. You’ll also employ dial indicators to accurately secure the material to achieve specific size accuracy within given tolerances.

Details:

  • Prerequisite: Machine Shop Orientation
  • A materials fee of $7 is included in the price of the class for a 2" x 2" x 2.25" block of aluminum.
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes in our studio. Tie back long hair, avoid loose-fitting clothing and jewelry and roll up sleeves. Wear hearing protectors when warranted and safety glasses; bring your own or use BARN's.
  • BARN is practicing safety measures for the health and well-being of all participants, in accordance with state and CDC guidelines. Please click here to read more.
