Woodworking safety monitors can explore the strength and aesthetics of six types of wood joints for furniture and other projects, and get hands-on experience in cutting them using BARN jigs and in gluing them.

Other sessions of this class are open to other woodworkers.

This is not a "project" class, but you will make two take-away pieces you can use for future reference: a four-sided “picture frame” with each corner secured by a different joint and a small drawer box that has locking rabbet joints to secure the front and back and slotted sides for the drawer bottom.

You'll use the table saw, bandsaw, and router to make these joints:

• Miter
• Butt
• Rabbet
• Locking rabbet 
• Half-lap
• Bridal

Class Policies

• You must wear safety glasses (we recommend bringing your own) and closed-toe shoes.
• Tie back long hair, and avoid dangling clothing and jewelry.
