Join this Lunchtime Lab to find out about the DK93 tabletop rivet press in the Fiber Studio. Learn what the rivet press does; how to select dies for double-cap rivets, grommets, and snaps; how to choose the right-size rivet, grommet, or snap for the best outcome; where to get materials to use in the press; and options for removing rivets and snaps if the outcome isn’t what you expected. (Spoiler alert: practice first—a lot!—so you can avoid having to remove your rivets and snaps!) We’ll also discuss the limitations of the rivets, grommets, and snaps this press installs and alternatives if this machine isn’t right for your project. You’ll come away with a few samples of each kind of item.

Registration is limited so that everyone will be able to practice using the press hands-on and so that we bring enough supplies. If registration is full, sign up for the waiting list (at no cost) so that we know we should schedule another session.

Fran Fuller learned to sew from her mother when she was 6 or 7 and made clothing and other projects for herself and for friends through high school and college. Now she sews bags, apparel, and other projects at home and at BARN. She is the coordinator of the BARN sewing program.
