You will design and decorate glass panels to make a metal lantern with six panels. The metal lantern will be provided. You will practice cutting techniques in creating the design, but the panels will be pre-cut to fit the lantern sides During the first session, you will design and create the panels. The second session will be to debrief on how your ideas translated after the glass was fired in the kiln, and assembly of the lanterns.


Instructor Bio:

Tobi Strevell has been creating fused glass since 2014. She has studied with various artists at BARN, Bullseye Glass, and at studios in the state. Her pieces include functional, architectural, jewelry and sculpture art.  Debra Arend began her fused glass art journey just last fall at BARN. Always attracted to glass, she was raised in the Glass Capital of the World, Toledo, Ohio and her falther was a graphic artist for Libby/Owen Corning, so to say it is in her blood is true. She has always been attracted to glass through her travels, but stained glass and blown glass were not her medium.  Fused Glass has given her the confidence to expand her art through the artists at BARN, and through other artists locally and internationally. She enjoys re-purposing Retail Lanterns into Art, Pendants, and enjoys designing everyday use items, such as plates coasters and platters through the use of fused glass and powders.
