Wow! Be the first to take a workshop with Nic Marshall using our 'new-to-us' Challenge 15mpc proof press! We have just acquired this press, and you can learn the basics on our own press! You'll learn how to set type by hand and control the production of a printed piece from start to finish.  You will be guided through the process of making two letterpress projects.  The first is a set of ‘calling’ or business cards, personalized with your information and images (choosing from a wide variety of antique image blocks).  The second is a broadside with a very simple phrase or quotation.   Bring a favorite quote, short poem, or song lyric.  You’ll set it in antique metal type and illustrate it with image or design and print it on the Challenge Press.  You’ll share your prints with everyone else in the workshop, and come away with a simple portfolio of prints.  Once you have taken this course, you have access to the letterpress equipment during studio hours!
